What is Nūr

Faith cultivated within.
Light carried into the world.

Nūr is a home for Muslim women seeking to deepen their faith, pursue knowledge, and carry that light into the world through service, justice, and moral courage. It exists to cultivate women whose faith is not only believed, but lived — for the benefit of themselves, their communities, and the wider world.

A legacy we seek to revive

“The best of women among the people of Paradise are Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, Fatimah bint Muhammad, Maryam bint 'Imran, and 'Asiyah bint Muzahim, the wife of Pharaoh.”

— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Nūr draws its inspiration from these four great women, and from the many female companions, scholars, teachers, leaders, and servants who have shaped our Ummah — and our world.

Faith

Khadijah

bint Khuwaylid

The first to believe, and a powerful benefactor whose wealth sustained Islam's earliest, most vital days.

Compassion

Fatimah

bint Muhammad

The radiant daughter of the Prophet ﷺ — a true spiritual force, so often overlooked.

Wisdom

Maryam

bint 'Imran

A single mother rejected by her people, she carried unwavering faith and quiet dignity.

Courage

Asiyah

bint Muzahim

Imprisoned in Pharaoh's palace, she remained steadfast in belief — even when it cost her everything.
