About Nūr
A place built for women who refuse to separate belief from action.
I. Where it began
“Take care of the women.”
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, in his final moments — three times
This space is an attempt to honor that instruction. Nūr began as a longing shared by Muslim women from London to Karachi to Baghdad — for a sanctuary of our own, rooted in faith and built for the world we actually live in.
II. What we're building
Muslim women face barriers that don't come from Islam itself, but from the misconceptions surrounding it — cultural distortion in the East, secular assumption in the West — and remain underserved in the digital spaces meant to serve them: fragmented, and too often unheard.
Nūr exists to close that gap: a space to learn, connect, and grow through 'ilm, iman, and ihsan, shaped by the women who use it. Safe, sacred, and genuinely ours.
III. Our roots
As Muslim women, we are not merely inhabitants of this world, but its stewards.
Nūr is a digital, social, and spiritual space where women are equipped to act as those stewards: to connect, to learn, to empower themselves and others, and to contribute to the world entrusted to them.
The faith we have been blessed to inherit was funded by Khadijah, defended by Fatima, and protected by Zaynab (sa). Women have always carried this Ummah's social responsibility — and today, the world needs more of us to carry it still.
Nūr holds to Hadith al Thaqalayn: that the Qur'an and the Ahlul Bayt are never to be parted from. We understand our purpose as helping women honor that command in everyday life — spreading their light through knowledge, connection, service, and moral courage.
A legacy we seek to revive
“The best of women among the people of Paradise are Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, Fatimah bint Muhammad, Maryam bint 'Imran, and 'Asiyah bint Muzahim, the wife of Pharaoh.”
— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Nūr draws its inspiration from these four great women, and from the many female companions, scholars, teachers, leaders, and servants who have shaped our Ummah — and our world.
Faith
Khadijah
bint Khuwaylid
The first to believe, and a powerful benefactor whose wealth sustained Islam's earliest, most vital days.
Compassion
Fatimah
bint Muhammad
The radiant daughter of the Prophet ﷺ — a true spiritual force, so often overlooked.
Wisdom
Maryam
bint 'Imran
A single mother rejected by her people, she carried unwavering faith and quiet dignity.
Courage
Asiyah
bint Muzahim
Imprisoned in Pharaoh's palace, she remained steadfast in belief — even when it cost her everything.
IV. The heart of it
We are nearly one billion strong. Zaynab (sa) showed us what that strength looks like — imprisoned in a tyrant's court, her voice so firm it made him tremble. Our scholars, women and men alike, were always meant to lead side by side; and flourishing was never only professional success, but being seen, heard, and valued in every part of life.
Muslim women have always been the builders of this Ummah: teachers, seekers, healers, leaders. Nūr is where that becoming begins.
